Why is the IR from my camera so focused on one point? Is there any way to avoid this?2018-08-23T17:53:30+01:00

IR works in different ways. IR stands for Infra Red and comes in either LED format and Array format.

They both flood infrared light into the scene in different ways and this is the key reason why there are different cameras on the market.

A camera’s setup is a key indicator of how it will operate in a specific scene situation.

In a wide area where night vision is required. IR Array will be the best choice.

In a narrow area where night vision is required. IR LED will be the best choice.

However, APro cameras now come with Smart IR which automatically shuts off portions of the LED to ensure you don’t get a whitewashed image in areas where there may be a person or car in sight.

The best way to combat your issue would be to move the camera pointing towards an area where there is more space with fewer differences in the foreground and background space. This way the IR gets distributed more evenly.

The cameras keep changing from colour to Black & White, how can this be resolved?2018-08-23T17:51:07+01:00

APro cameras are colour in the day and black & white as standard.
However, you can also get colour night vision and we call this Starlight.

But, if you are experiencing Black and White flickering even during the day then it can be for various reasons.

Please check the following:

  • Please check all connections and ensure they are safely connected and secured.
  • Check the power supply to see if it’s faulty.
  • If you are using a Balun please ensure the terminations are correct or to see if the balun is faulty.

If you are still experiencing this issue then please raise a support ticket and our team can look to create an RMA for you.

My camera has condensation within the LED area. What do I do?2018-08-23T17:45:30+01:00

The water sitting within your camera can be for a variety of reasons however the main reason is due to condensation.

All APro cameras are weatherproof to IP67 and are IK10 rated so can safely withstand operation in harsh climates.

The reason why condensation has occurred within the camera can be down to the harsh temperature difference from when it has been sitting at room temperature all the way to really cold climate. The severe difference can create humidity within the camera and therefore the water gets trapped within the unit.

There is no real way of water getting into the camera as the camera is sealed using rubber seals and hence why the water inside cannot leave the camera.

To combat this issue, you will need to ensure the LED in the camera is running for a prolonged period which should safely burn off any water inside the LED region.

Adding an SD Card into your APro Smart Doorbell2018-08-23T17:19:31+01:00

Your APro doorbell has on the fly recording which works on a P2P stream powered by APro servers which you may be accustomed to with the surveillance series of products by APro.

However, the APro doorbell also has support for a Micro SD card to allow for in-device recording should you want to retrieve past recordings made by the device in the future.

The Micro SD card slot is located on the main board of the APro doorbell for security purposes and requires you to remove 4 Phillips screw(s). Pictured below: The APro Smart doorbell currently supports a 32GB Micro SD card (Increased support in the future). This should provide around 13-14 days of recording.

After this is installed, please close the unit and the device should recognise the SD card installed. Please ensure the APro doorbell is set to record to SD card within the device settings on the App.

What is Mainstream and Substream?2018-08-23T17:06:16+01:00

You may have come across Mainstream and Substream during your use of APro products whether its the App or even the Fusion or Salus itself.

With our technology evolving and APro’s constant push in R&D, it means higher resolutions are available in the market which was previously unheard of.

With higher resolutions, come more bandwidth and all this at the cost of your broadband or mobile network provider.

So, to combat this we offer two stream methods, Mainstream and Substream.

Mainstream is the higher quality stream coming from your recorder, its clearer, HD and generally more visually pleasing.

Substream is the lower quality stream coming from your recorder, its less clear, not HD and is tailored towards allowing the users to view, but not drain their network usage.

CCTV is a mainstream solution for monitoring your home and business and can result in heavy usage of the app and this can mean severe consumption of data. This is the clear reason why we provide substream as an alternate solution.

The Mainstream and Substream itself is configurable in the DVR settings to cater towards your needs if you require a more bespoke stream solution.

My monitor displays ‘Out of range’ when plugging into my APro Fusion/Salus2018-08-23T16:51:23+01:00

APro Fusion & Salus come with HDMI and VGA as standard to allow for seamless integration to any HD output device. However, due to the product being capable of outputting to devices up to 4K you will need to ensure your device meets the basic standards.

This problem only occurs with HDMI displays due to the way the screen takes in the signal. You can try 1 method to try to correct the problem.

Change the output in the Main Menu under Display Settings to a resolution which your monitor is capable of accepting. (This is usually done by Fusion/Salus automatically when it first connects).

If this still doesn’t work then it usually means the monitor simply cannot take the signal.

You can remedy this by using VGA as an alternative connection method which should provide an image instantly. However, the image will not be HD.

Video Baluns, What are they? How do they work?2018-08-23T16:42:50+01:00

Video Baluns, What are they? How do they work?

Video Baluns are the perfect solution for clients requiring to streamline their cabling and ensure their install looks as neat as possible. But what are the real benefits?
Video Baluns allow for installers to run video down a CAT 5/6/7 cable without needing to use conventional RG59/Shotgun cabling. The CAT cable is a lot more streamlined and is common 1st Fix for developments making it a clear choice for installers and developers, as CCTV becomes a bolt-on after the cable is implemented.
Video Baluns come in pairs and works as RX & TX (Receivers and Transmitters). One sends the camera image from the camera side. The other, receives the image and translates that into a picture.
In a typical install, a user would use dual pairs for the video balun and dual pairs for the power to minimise interference but
also to ensure the install looks neat. (Subject to Appendix 1).
Appendix 1
The RJ45 balun is a new contender. RJ45 Baluns go one step further and instead of using separate DC plugs to run power separately

using the twisted pairs, Its requires the user to merely crimp RJ45 plugs to the CAT cable turning it into an ethernet cable and then plugging it into the RJ45 Balun where a DC and a BNC plug lead comes out. A true plug and play solution.
